The style is greater than the peak: romanesque white columns, paintings of the Old Country and waiters in tuxes humming Dean Martin tunes. The kitchen is neatly-known for its Neapolitan fare, including stuffed clams and more varieties of veal than should be legal. Try the veal scaloppine alla pizzaiola subsequent to a glass of barolo.

A fine-looking crowd of regulars arrive for French classics such as moules, escargots and steak frites, but I recommend establishment behind the home pat (duck liver considering cornichons and pink pepper) followed by the grilled South Carolina quail, which comes gone grapes, pea shoots, and mesclun. Theres an excellent wine list, and no shortage of cocktail lounges vigorous for a declaration-dinner drink. This is a fine area for a tender date.

This vintage-style luncheonette, conventional in 1983 in Queens, but recently arrived in the East Village, serves together in addition to door to well-ventilated salads, sandwiches and soups at excellent prices, in an melody that recalls out of date New York. The marquee sign claims the tuna melt (tuna and cheese upon toasted rye) is the best in the city, and they may be right.
